 | What is a wicking layer?
While each sport may require different types of clothing, a wicking layer is always a critical piece. As the base layer, it works to move moisture away from your body to minimize heat loss. An effective wicking layer should be breathable and non-absorbent, and so synthetic fibers like polyester are good choices. Natural fibers such as cotton and silk are not, however, as these tend to trap moisture and leave you feeling clammy and uncomfortable. Choose pieces that include technology like Power Dry®, designed with two different surfaces: the layer next to your skin channels moisture through the fabric, while the outer layer disperses it over its surface to evaporate quickly.
